Katia Denise Henry: Biography
Katia Denise Henry is an Attorney-at-law with over thirty-three years practice at the Jamaican Bar.
She joined the prestigious law firm, Myers, Fletcher & Gordon, in 1987 as an Associate and worked with them for six years until 1993, doing work relating to Probate and Estate Planning, Commercial Law, Company Law and Conveyancing..
In 1993 she joined Sagicor Life Jamaica Limited, and, until 1996, worked with that organization as a Legal Officer doing legal work relating to Probate and Estate Planning.
She re-entered private practice in 1996 as a sole practitioner, specializing in Estate Planning and Probate. She has since then been in practice as a sole practitioner save for a stint as a consultant at her old firm, Myers,Fletcher & Gordon between March 2004 and December 2006. She also acted as Company Secretary of the University Hospital of the West Indies Private Wing Limited for some eleven years.
Approximately twenty-seven years ago, Miss Henry became an associate tutor at the Norman Manley Law School in Probate Practice & Procedure and has given marking support in Law Office Management for several years. In academic year 2016-2017 she joined the full-time staff for one year as the Course Director for Probate Practice & Procedure and, in the first term of academic year 2017-2018, lectured in Law Office Management and Technology. In academic year 2018-2019, she was the Course Director for Law Office Management and Technology.
Miss Henry has written numerous articles and conducted several seminars on Estate Planning. Additionally Jamaica’s leading Radio and Television stations have sought her expertise in programmes related to Estate Planning.
Miss Henry holds a B.A. (History and Economics) and L.L.B. degrees from the University of the West Indies and is a graduate of the Norman Manley Law School. She is a member of the Jamaica Bar Association.
Her hobbies are hiking, swimming and reading.
